1. About the app
Hymnals is a free app by Algorithm Zero that puts a Tshivenḓa hymn book on your phone. The hymns work offline. An optional community layer lets you record your singing and, if you choose, share it so others can listen. By using the app you agree to these terms.
2. The hymns & content
To the best of our knowledge, the hymns included in this app are in the public domain. They are long‑standing works of the church, and we have compiled, digitised and — where shown — translated them so they can be sung and studied. The diacritics, translations and any corrections are provided in good faith and may contain errors.
3. Your recordings
- Recordings you make stay on your device and remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- They are private until you tap Share. Nothing is uploaded automatically.
- By sharing a recording you allow other people using the app to listen to it within the app, and you allow us to store and serve it for that purpose.
- You confirm that you have the right to share what you record — for example, that it is your own singing.
4. Community conduct
The community layer is a worship space. Please treat it as one.
- Share only hymn singing and related worship audio. Don’t upload offensive, abusive, misleading or unlawful content.
- Be gracious to other singers. Encouragement over criticism.
- Moderation is trust‑based: you can delete your own recordings at any time, and we may remove content that breaks these terms.
- By sharing a recording you confirm that you have the right to share it. The hymns in this app are public domain and always safe to sing; recordings of other, still‑copyrighted songs should not be shared here.
5. Accounts & signing in
You can read hymns and record privately without any account. Signing in with Google is optional and needed only to share. You’re responsible for keeping your sign‑in secure. See our Privacy Policy for what information sharing involves.
6. Deleting content & your account
- Unshare any recording to remove it from the community and delete its audio from our servers.
- Delete your account from the profile menu (top‑right of the home screen). This permanently deletes every recording you shared and the account itself; recordings still on your phone are unaffected.
- Or email info@algorithmzero.co.za and we’ll do it for you.
7. Provided “as is”
The app is offered free and “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we can’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error‑free. To the extent permitted by law, Algorithm Zero is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or the community layer.
8. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll update this page and its “last updated” date, and continued use of the app means you accept the current terms.
